Her painted cookies are as beautiful and memorable as the events they adorn. People who taste her tea cookies lose themselves in the moment. Clare Welage, a self-taught pastry chef and owner of The Whimsical Whisk, has a history of making phenomenal desserts. From her early success with a chocolate company she started in 1987, to her recognition as one of Indianapolis’ top pastry chefs by Indianapolis Monthly magazine, where her desserts received the highest acknowledgement: Critics Choice Award.

In 2004, the same year in which she started The Whimsical Whisk, the company was awarded Best Cookies by Indianapolis Monthly magazine. In 2007, her cookies caught the attention of the Rachel Ray Show and the Campfire cookie was featured as ” Snack of the Day.” In 2008, Clare’s line of Whimsical Creations, hand-painted couture cookies, were featured in Brides Magazine blog,  Indianapolis Dine magazine, and the Indianapolis Business Journal. In that same year, The Whimsical Whisk was voted Best Custom Cookie Company by the Indianapolis Monthly magazine.  Most recently in 2011,  The Whimsical Whisk was recognized as an Official Super Bowl Host Committee Emerging Business Contract Recipient for the 2012 game; single-handily producing over 17,000 cookies and pastries for various events and celebrations.

I started The Whimsical Whisk because I firmly believe people deserve a much better product than what is commonly available. I don’t believe people are average, so why should a dessert be average? I believe our customers deserve products made from only high quality ingredients such as butter , whole eggs, sugar, and flour. Some people would argue that customers wouldn’t know a scratch made product from one made from a mix or a butter cookie from one made with a synthetic fat, but the truth is I would know and that’s why I started The Whimsical Whisk, A Dessert Revolution!
